This workshop is intended for all school staff working with students or involved in planning, program or policy development for student wellbeing. This workshop will suit staff who work with students who are either: typically developing; on the Autism spectrum; exhibiting challenging behaviour; or socially anxious or depressed. Learning outcomes from this research-informed workshop include:

  • Awareness of brain development in the teenage years
  • Understanding of how brain development effects learner readiness in the teenage years
  • Understanding the impact of factors such as trauma, disability, cultural heritage, and lifestyle on secondary student engagement
  • Strategies for changing practice to maximise secondary student engagement and learner readiness
  • Skill building for constructing an Engagement Plan for implementation at your site
